Under the patronage of the PM, Baghdad hosts “Iraq Investment Forum” to present more than 90 investment opportunities


The capital, Baghdad, will host the activities of the Iraq Investment Forum on November 2 and 3, 2024, at the Rashid Hotel, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. It will present more than 90 investment opportunities in various sectors.

The organizing committee said, “The forum will witness presenting economic and investment opportunities in the heavy and medium industries sector, including 14 investment opportunities in (Basra, Nineveh, Anbar, Muthanna, Najaf, Diwaniyah) and 4 opportunities for chemical and petrochemical industries, 8 opportunities for transformation and construction industries, and two opportunities for medium industries.”

It added, “The economic and investment opportunities in the agricultural and animal production sector include 9 investment opportunities in the governorates of (Diwaniyah, Kirkuk, Maysan, Najaf) 3 opportunities for animal production projects and 6 opportunities for agricultural projects, while in the tourism and entertainment sector, they include
9 investment opportunities in (Nineveh, Najaf Ashraf, Dhi Qar, Karbala, including 1 opportunity for an amusement park, 2 opportunities for a tourist city, and 6 opportunities for tourism projects and resorts.”

The committee confirmed that “the economic and investment opportunities in the housing and real estate development sector include 19 investment opportunities in (Nineveh, Baghdad, Kirkuk, Muthanna, Wasit, Babylon, Maysan, Diwaniyah) lie in 4 opportunities for residential complexes and 12 opportunities for commercial complexes, a sports stadium, a hotel, and a swimming pool.”

The energy and renewable energy sector had a share in the forum, including 19 investment opportunities in (Baghdad, Basra, Nineveh, Anbar, Najaf, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Wasit, Maysan, Diwaniyah, Muthanna) including 4 investment opportunities for thermal power plants, 3 opportunities for wind power plants, 11 opportunities for solar power plants, and a group of investment opportunities for waste-to-energy plants.

The transportation
and ports sector also enjoys investment opportunities, including 3 investment opportunities in Najaf, Karbala and Diwaniyah, and two investment opportunities for the suspended train with the establishment of a civil airport. There will also be participation from the communications sector, including 5 investment opportunities, including an opportunity to invest in the optical cable extending from northern Iraq to its south, an opportunity to invest in the Iraqi satellite, the national license for the fifth generation mobile phone, and the establishment of a cloud data center and fiber optic projects to provide FTTH service. It pointed out that “the industrial cities and free zones sector includes 4 opportunities in (Diwaniyah, Maysan, and Karbala and 3 opportunities for economic cities, one opportunity for a treasury city. As for the health and pharmaceutical industries sector, it will include 15 opportunities in (Diwaniyah, Dhi Qar, Karbala, Babylon, Anbar, Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Diyala), including 1 opportun
ity for a pharmaceutical city, 3 opportunities for pharmaceutical factories, 5 opportunities for an educational hospital, and 3 opportunities for vaccine production factories and veterinary medicines and 2 opportunities for a specialized hospital and a medical research center.

The organizing committee also spoke about presenting economic and investment opportunities for the food and transformation industries sector, including one opportunity in Muthanna Governorate, and the oil and gas sector, including one opportunity to produce straight gasoline. (LAB).
