Unique tourist attractions in Qazvin

Qazvin, IRNA – The old city of Qazvin also known as “Land of Minoodari” provides tourists with tens of historical attractions, including unique places at Iranian and even international levels.

Iran’s National Headquarters of Coronavirus Disease Management has recently declared that people who have been vaccinated fully can travel to different cities and provinces in the country; of course the permission depends on the situation of the coronavirus pandemic during the Nowruz holidays.

As the New Year holidays approach, many Iranians plan for Nowruz trips. Following two years of suffering from aftermaths of the fatal disease, those who want to travel are thinking about destination of their tour.

Qazvin province is located near crowded cities like Tehran and Karaj; so, having various tourist attractions turns the province a potential destination in the upcoming holidays in Iran.

Qazvin city possesses numerous historical attractions. Some of them date back to Savavid era or earlier.

The Sa’d al-Saltaneh Caravanserai is a large building located in the city of Qazvin that dates back in the Qajar era, and is one of Iran’s best preserved caravanserais in Iran. Tourists can pay a visit to the historical architecture and also purchase souvenirs such as handicraft items of Qazvin in the Sa’d al-Saltaneh Caravanserai.

Tomb of the Four Prophets (Chahar Anbia) is a holy monument, which is located on the west part of Chehel Sotun Palace in Qazvin. People believe that four Bani Israeli prophets named Salam, Salom, Sahouli and Akhalia were buried in this place. The building of the shrine dates back to Safavid era. Safavid governmental structure is located in vicinity of the tomb.

Traditional Garden of Qazvin is another important tourist attraction, which is located in the southern area of the Qazvin province. The garden is more than 2500 hectares and had surrounded Qazvin city years ago. The Traditional Garden of Qazvin is among registered places in Iran’s List of National Monuments and is candidate to be inscribed on the World Heritage List of the UNESCO.

Jameh Mosque of Qazvin is one of the oldest mosques in Iran, which is the congregational mosque of Qazvin. The mosque has been preserved despite the fact that it dates back to more than 1,000 years and harms inflicted on the mosque following Mongol invasion.

Darb Kushk Gate is a historical gate in Qazvin, which is one of the only two remaining city gates of Qazvin. The thousand-year-old gate was repaired and retiled in 1879.

Sardar-e Bozorg Ab Anbar is a water storage facility, which was constructed with decorative brick & tiles in 1812. It is the largest single-domed water storage facility in Iran.

Cantor Church, is a Russian Orthodox church in Qazvin. The church was built by the Russians during World War II, but today it has no religious use and is preserved as a monument.
