US Ambassador Denies Any Relationship Of US Military Movements With Matters Inside Iraq

The Ambassador of the United States of America to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, denied any relation of the American military’s movements with matters inside Iraq.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that “Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received, today, Wednesday, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, and during the meeting they discussed the overall Iraqi-American relations, and ways to enhance joint cooperation in the economic and development fields in light of the strategic framework agreement, and in a way that benefits the interests of the two friendly countries.

The statement added, “The meeting dealt with discussing the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held in the second half of next month, and the various activities during these meetings,” pointing out that “the minister touched on that Iraq will participate in political events and within the framework of “multilateralism “, in addition to conducting many bilateral meetings.

It continued, “The two sides touched on the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Liaison Committee on Syria, which was hosted by Cairo on 8/15/2023, and discussed its outputs related to Syria and changes in this framework. In another aspect of the meeting, developments related to “Al-Hol camp” in Syria and the problems facing the transfer of some families from the camp to the Iraqi interior were discussed.

For her part, the US ambassador clarified about what was reported about US military movements inside Iraq, stressing that these movements were part of the exchange of existing forces, and she categorically denied the relationship of these military movements with inside Iraq, stressing the US government’s keenness to continue cooperation and develop common interests with Iraq. “
