US military power merely physically large: IRGC cmdr

Tehran, IRNA – Major General Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), has said that the US military power might seem to be greater than Iranian military power, but recent developments have shown that they are great merely in terms of physical shape.

According to sepahnews.com, Salami made the remarks on Wednesday, when he was honoring IRGC naval forces, who stood against the US Army in the Oman Sea, saying that the victory happened in a limited area, but it was very important because the incident was humiliating for the enemy.

The brave Iranian forces belittled the self-proclaimed hegemony of the United States, which is fading, the commander mentioned.

Pointing to the fact that the dignity of countries and nations are made of special historical events, Salami noted that throughout Islamic history there are many significant days such as Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina and that the followers of the holy religion are determined to fight bullying powers and aggressors.

The history of the Islamic Republic of Iran is also filled with important days, he said, adding that the last one is October 24, when IRGC naval forces encountered American piracy and did not allow the American armed forces to steal Iranian crude oil in the Oman Sea.

There are many glorious days in Iran’s history such as when Iranians arrested US marines in 2016, confiscated British vessels in 2007, and captured American UAVs in 2011, he mentioned.

The major general went on to say that some other incidents, which are honorable for the Iranian nation, will be publicized in due time.

The world witnessed the brave Iranian armed forces could overcome American superiority in terms of military equipment because the Iranians relied upon their beliefs and Islamic tenets, Salami argued.

The failed US attempt to seize Iranian oil shipment shows the Iranian nation cannot be defeated by enemies, he said.
