We attach great importance to regional cooperation/ Asia a key treasure of culture, human development/ We will mark a new chapter in Iran-Tajikistan relations

Asia is one of the most important treasures of human culture and civilisation, and the cooperation in the region and Asia is one of the most important and pivotal issues, said the President, adding, “We attach great importance to regional cooperation and the SCO is among the active organisations for regional cooperation”.

Speaking on Thursday before leaving Tehran for Dushanbe, Tajikistan in order to attend the 21st Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said, “This visit will take place at the official invitation of the President of Tajikistan and in addition to attending the summit and expressing the views and opinions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, we will also have meetings with the leaders and senior officials of the countries participating in this summit”.

Referring to the plans to hold a bilateral meeting with his Tajik counterpart during the visit, Ayatollah Raisi said, “Unfortunately, the good relations between Iran and Tajikistan have been interrupted, for development of which this visit will open a new chapter in relations in various political, cultural and economic fields”.

Referring to the cultural, religious and linguistic commonalities of the people of Iran and Tajikistan, the President stressed, “Communication with the countries of the region is one of the priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and we hope that in the talks that we have with senior officials of countries in this visit, interaction among Asian countries becomes more than before and new steps can be taken in this regard”.

Ayatollah Raisi stressed, “For a practical step in the relations between Iran and Tajikistan, agreements for cooperation in various economic, agricultural and legal fields will be signed during this visit, with the implementation and operation of which we will see the development of relations between the two countries”.
