What is the root cause of West’s enmity to Iran?

Tehran, IRNA – The root cause of all Western hostilities with the Islamic Republic of Iran is the Iranians’ insisting on independence, ruling out the United States hegemony, and opposing compromise with the Zionist occupiers, an Iraqi researcher believes.

Falah Al-Quraishi, an Iraqi social and political researcher, told IRNA on Sunday that the recent hostile resolution by the European Parliament in blacklisting the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a so-called terrorist group has its root in Iran’s resistance in the face of the US’s hegemony and Tehran’s opposition to the normalization of ties with the Zionist regime.

The recent move by the European Parliament is a blatant violation of international laws, which allow states to defend their borders as well as national and ideological interests, he underscored.

So much hostility in dealing with the Islamic Republic comes from the fact that Iran is an independent country, which dismisses the US’s domination and the normalization of ties with the Israeli regime, he said, adding that these stances by the Iranians promoted public opinion in the Arab world, the Islamic Ummah and at international arena to stand against succumbing in the face of the US’s hegemonic

power as well as emphasize the need for ending the occupation of Arab lands usurped by Israel in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt.

–US angry with Iran’s role

Al-Quraishi went on to say that Iran has played a key role in setting up resistance movements in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Palestine, which has helped foil plots hatched by certain regional states and the US, who have been aiding and abetting the terrorist organization of Daesh.

The US is annoyed with the Iranians’ progress in the military arena, he said, noting that Martyr General Qasem Soleimani’s role in Daesh terrorists’ conspiracies against the region as well as his support for the resistance movements in Iraq and Syria angered Washington.

According to the Iraqi pundit, Iran showed the Arab world that certain Arab states backed Daesh and other terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria, but the Iraqi top cleric Ayatollah Ali Sistani’s decree and the efforts made by the Popular Mobilization Forces pushed the terrorists back.

Now, there are two opposing axes in the region, one of them is the resistance movement, which is independent of the US’s hegemony, and the second one is the axis of normalization of ties with the Zionist enemies, which entails certain Arab states, including Arab littoral states of the Persian Gulf, Jordan, and Egypt, the analyst argued.

Israel, who is tired of Iran’s nuclear success and power, has resorted to the US’s support and certain advocates in the region to target security in the Islamic Republic; so, it tried to strike some facilities in Isfahan, Iran, but they failed to reach their goal, he said, adding that the Iranian people are well aware that the measures are being carried out to sow discord and change a regime, which powerfully stands against plots hatched by the Zionist regime and the US in the region.
