1.2 tons of narcotics seized in SE Iran

Sistan and Baluchestan police commander announced that 1.248 tons of illegal drugs have been confiscated after an armed conflict with smugglers.

The smugglers started shooting toward police forces and ran away, Brigadier Mohamma Ghanbari said.

After an hour-long conflict, the traffickers left their cars and escaped, he added.

Police officers discovered 1.68 kg opium, 170kg hashish and 10 kg other drugs, Ghanbari noted.

Sistan and Baluchestan Province is a pioneer in fighting drug trafficking.
