1.7 tons of narcotics discovered in SE Iran
Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan Province police commander announced that 1.7 tons of illegal drugs have been discovered near Jaleq City, Saravan.
After being informed of transferring a heavy consignment of illegal drugs in Saravan, anti-narcotic police teams were dispatched, Brigadier Mohammad Ghanbari said on Sunday.
After a 12-hour ambush on the smugglers' way, police officers found the car with the illegal drugs, he said.
During the operation two smugglers were arrested, he added.
Police officers also found 1.6 tons of opium, 53.900 kg of morphine, 16.560 kg of hashish, 8.200 kg of heroin and 2.600kg of other drugs, Ghanbari noted.
