1st vice president back home from Sochi visit
Tehran� First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri who visited Russian city of Sochi to attend the 16th Forum of Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) Council of Prime Ministers returned home late on Friday.
During his two-day visit to Sochi, in addition to addressing the event, Jahangiri conferred with top-ranking official, including Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and United Nations under secretary-general Shamshad Akhtar.
SCO is an intergovernmental organization founded by China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2001 in a bid to promote multilateral cooperation in the fields of security, economy and culture. Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Belarus joined the entity as observer members.
Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and India are current members of SCO.
