2.1 tons of drugs seized in SE Iran
Zahedan, The Iranian police confiscated about 2.1 tons of narcotics in the city of Saravan, in SistanBaluchestan Province, southeastern Iran, said the provincial police commander on Thursday.
The police seized a band of traffickers who intended to transfer this large amount of narcotics to the central parts of Iran,' said BrigadierGeneral Mohammad Qanbari.
General Qanbari added that the police confiscated 2.52 tons of opium, 96 kilograms of Morphine and 1 kilograms of hashish, which were loaded on a Totoya.
Three drug traffickers were arrested, and two Kalashnikovs with their ammunitions confiscated, he added.
Iran as the country neighboring Afghanistan and Pakistan is a transit route for drugtraffickers. Many Iranian soldiers are killed every year in the fight against the drug trafficking.
