2.5 tons of opium seized in SE Iran

Zahedan, About 2,521 kilograms of opium were seized and five professional drug-dealers arrested in Sistan-Baluchestan Province, southeast Iran, said the deputy chief of the police of the province on Saturday.

'After a chain of operations, the police could arrest five drug-traffickers and confiscate three cars, 2,521 kilograms of opium,' said Colonel Ahmad Taheri.

Colonel Taheri added one of the missions of police is to counter drug production and trafficking.

Iran has long borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan.
