370 tons of narcotics found in Iran in 5 months
Tehran, About 370 tons of narcotics were confiscated throughout Iran in the first five months of the Iranian year (starting on March 21), which shows one percent increase compared to the same period last year, said the spokesman of Iran's Drug Control Organization.
'About 278 tons were discovered in the first four months,' said Parviz Afshar.
'The statistics show a 17% increase in heroin, 58% increase in morphine, and three percent increase in opium confiscations.'
Afshar said that 6,776 cars and 310 guns were also confiscated in the past four months; the clashes with traffickers increased by 26%, and five of the Iranian security forces were martyred.
He added that the Iranian police force, Ministry of Intelligence, Prisons Organization, and voluntary forces cooperate in fighting drug trafficking.
