4.5-magnitude quake shakes western Iran
Tehran, A quake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale hit western areas bordering Iraq, Kermanshah and Ilam. The quake took place around the western Iranian city of Sumar at 23:59 hours local time (19:29 GMT) Wednesday.
The closest cities to the epicenter of the tremor are Sumar, Kermanshah, Salehabad and Zarneh (Ilam province).
No report on possible casualties or material losses as a result of the quake has been released yet.
Iran sits on major seismological fault lines, making it one of the world's most quake-prone countries.
