Admiral Sayyari: Sustainable friendship in Caspian Sea requires security
Rasht, IRNA - Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army for Coordination Affairs Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the mission of the navy and all the navies of neighboring countries is to establish security in the Caspian Sea.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the Sea Cup in Bandar Anzali, in north of Iran on Friday evening, he pointed to the high geopolitical and geo-strategic importance in the region of the Caspian Sea as the largest lake in the world and said it is prime importance of its rim countries as well.
He said the Caspian Sea is a sea of peace and friendship and since it is important for all the Caspian littoral countries, it should retain security must remain.
The Admiral stressed that wherever there is security, there is peace and friendship, and wherever there is no security, no economic, social and political activities could be carried out.
Emphasizing that the Caspian littoral states will never allow the presence of foreigners in the Caspian Sea, he said littoral states could well provide security in this region for all kinds of maritime activities and implement all the benefits in the Caspian Sea of peace and friendship.
Rear Admiral Sayyari added that repeatedly hosting the games for the Caspian Sea littoral countries including Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is a part of Iran's overall maritime diplomacy.
Bandar Anzali hosted the Sea Cup competition of the 2021 International Army Games for 10 days since the 2nd of September.
