Afghan envoy congratulates Imran Khan on election win

Islamabad, Ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan has congratulated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Chairman Imran Khan, on winning election in the country.

Omar Zakhilwal in his tweet message said, 'Congrats to Imran Khan for election victory.

Over my stay in Pakistan have developed a close friendship resulting from his consistently welcoming positions on Afghanistan: calling for Pakistan's constructive role in our peace and stability and strong support for Afghan refugees, he said.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) led by Imran Khan has emerged as largest political party in Pakistan's general elections as it is leading on 114 National Assembly seats and is likely to form next government in the country, defeating two main parties Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Earlier Imran Khan in his first public address said Afghanistan, has suffered the most in the war on terror. Afghanistan's people need peace. We want peace there. If there is peace in Afghanistan, there will be peace in Pakistan. We will make every effort to achieve peace there.

He further said Pakistan may have an 'open border' with Afghanistan in the days to come.
