Afghanistan lauds Iran’s hospitality

Tehran, IRNA – On the occasion of World Refugee Day, Afghan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, lauded the Islamic Republic’s hospitality and said that Iranians have hosted the Afghan refugees for four decades.

World Refugee Day is an international day organized every year on June 20 by the United Nations.

Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai made the remarks in a conference entitled “Future of Relations Between Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries”.

According to Afghan media, this conference was held in Kabul with the presence of Taliban officials and Ambassadors of Afghanistan’s neighbors.

Afghan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the conference, appreciated Iran’s hospitality for Afghan refugees for four decades and added that the two neighboring countries have fulfilled their Islamic responsibility by sheltering millions of Afghan refugees over the past four decades.

Stanikzai said that Afghanistan calls on the neighboring countries to be patient and treat the asylum seekers with patience until the return conditions are favorable.”

Afghan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in his remarks also called on neighboring countries to work together for a prosperous Afghanistan and added that by uniting with other neighboring countries, we will not allow foreigners to interfere in Afghanistan and the region, because the presence of foreigners in the region is destabilizing.
