Amending customs tariffs by Iran, Turkey essential: Official
Orumieh, Head of Northeast Anatolia Development Agency stressed the need for increasing trade exchanges between Iran and Turkey, saying that amending customs tariffs would materialize targeted trade of 30 billion dollars.
In a meeting with members of Orumiyeh Chamber of Commerce, Osman Demir Devin added that creating border markets is not the way to materialize 30 billion trade.
As long as customs problems are not solved, there will be no hope for fulfillment of Iran-Turkey joint economic plans, he said.
Noting that Iran-Turkey economic capacities require a trade more than 30 billion dollars, he said that if the figure is materialized, share of each Iranian and Turkish citizen will be 176 dollars alone and this does not seem satisfactory at all.
Demir Devin also hailed the role of diplomatic shuttles between the two countries in improving bilateral economic relations, saying, I believe that joint sessions with Iranian officials should increase.
As to his trip to West Azarbaijan, he said that the province boasts of rare economic capacities.
Demir Devin also voiced Turkish businessmen's readiness to attend Mako Free Zone and Tabriz.
Head of Orumiyeh Chamber of Commerce also told the meeting that the province is ready for promoting international trade.
Stressing the need for boosting tourism between Iran and Turkey, he added that interaction in the tourism industry should not one-way.
