Armenian PM to visit Iran this year: Envoy
Tehran, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visits Iran this year upon an invitation of President Hassan Rouhani, an envoy said.
'The invitation from President Rouhani to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been received and he will visit Iran this year,' Armenian Ambassador to Tehran Artashes Toumanian said Tuesday in a press conference.
The exact date has not been set yet, but the visit is expected to be paid by the end of the year, he said.
Until the prime minister's visit to Tehran, the two sides would also meet at international gatherings, if there is any opportunity, the ambassador said.
Iran is an important neighbor of Armenia, and the bilateral relations of the two countries are developing, the ambassador said.
Commenting on economic cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan, he said there is much room for developing economic relations, but currently energy comprises a major part of the relations.
Toumanian also noted that the summit of intergovernmental organization of French-speaking nations, known as (OIF), will be held in Yerevan on October 11-12.
