Azertac Chief urges official media to confront fake news
Baku, The fake news are threatening the entire world and the official news agencies have the responsibility for raising awareness of all other media on the phenomenon, the head of Azerbaijan's news agency said Friday.
'The fake news are disastrous for the whole world, and we should put the sinister phenomenon on the spotlight,' the Aslan Aslanov, Head of Azertac News Agency, said in his speech at a meeting with heads of media in Baku.
Addressing a meeting titled 'Disinformation Policy- A Threat to Stability in the Modern World' being held on the sidelines of the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum, he said, 'The fake news has always been released, but with the rise of mass and social media, the phenomenon has spread.'
The fake news, like other type of information, are spreading so rapidly that we are inevitable to defend ourselves against them, he said.
The 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum was opened on Thursday in Baku with 580 figures from 97 countries and 24 international organizations attending the event.
