Chegeni appointed Iran’s new ambassador to India

Tehran, Ali Chegeni was appointed as Iran's new ambassador in New Delhi on the proposal of Foreign Minister Mohammad JavadZarif and approval of President Hassan Rouhani.

Earlier, Chegeni was Iran's ambassador to Cuba and director general of Foreign Ministry's consular affairs.

Chegeni replaces Gholamreza Ansari, who was appointed a deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy in February.
