Civilians Raise White Flag as Peshmerga, Iraqi Forces Encircle Bashiqa
In the footage Residents the Iraqi town of Bashiqa could be seen on Saturday leaving the Islamic State (Daesh/ISIL/ISIS/IS) group held territory, as Kurdish fighters known as Peshmerga and Iraqi special forces have encircled the town.
Footage from a Kurdish television station Rudaw TV shows groups of people walking or running across open space, some carrying white flags, before being met by Peshmerga fighters on the other side of the frontline; AP reported.
Peshmerga fighters have driven Daesh (ISIL/ISIS/IS) group out of several villages in an offensive to recapture territory.
