Commander: New destroyers become operational
Tehran, Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi announced on Thursday that the force will add several new destroyers to its fleet in current Iranian calendar year of 1398 (March 21, 2019 to March 21, 2020).
He said that this year, several destroyers as well as missile frigates 'PaykanClass' will become operational in the force.
He added that destroyer 'Dena', the latest version of a moudgeclass vessel, will also be unveiled this year.
The commander also said that the destroyer 'Damavand' is passing through the final stages of rennovations and will join the northern navy fleet soon.
The Rear Admiral had already announced that the first generation of boats 'Mishka' in 'SabaClass' will join Navy in year 1398.
About the international interactions of the Iranian Navy force, the commander said that Iranian Navy will participate in joint maneuver of Indian Ocean regional forces this year.
The aim is to have a share in the collective security in the region, he said.
Currently, Iran is the chairman of the international meeting of Naval Forces of Indian Ocean littoral states for two years.
