Confession to defeat biggest victory for KSA, UAE: media
Tehran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have gained nothing since they have imposed a war on Yemen, thus confession to defeat and quitting the war would be the greatest achievement for them, write extra-regional newspaper Raialyoum.
‘Saudi minister of energy Khalid Falih claimed on Wednesday that Yemeni Houthis have targeted two Saudi tankers in Bab-el-Mandeb one of which was slightly damaged,’ wrote Raialyoum editor in chief Abdel Bari Atwan.
Atwan also wrote that Yemen has denied the Saudi claim and has announced that they had targeted a warship named Dammam off the western coast of Yemen.
Saying that the incident raised oil price about one percent, he wrote the Saudis have announced that they will not ship their oil through the the waterway till it is safe again. They are going to send their oil thorough the Cape of Good Hope, which takes 15 days longer, and will raise the transportation price contrary to US President Donald Trump’s desire.
The attack shows that two strategic straits of Hormuz and Bab-el-Mande are controlled by Iran and its allies that can be a trump card in the mind war against the US and its allies.
He added that the two invading countries should confess to defeat and draw out their forces from Yemen and let the Yemeni people decide for themselves.
Atwan also wrote that interfering in other countries affairs through wars may look easy but quitting the quagmire wouldn’t be that easy.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and some of their Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, an ally of Riyadh.
Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the US-backed coalition for over three years, but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.
Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
