Daesh VIDEO: ISIS Takes over Abandoned Field Hospital in Syria’s Deir al-Zor

Islamic State (ISIS / Daesh / ISIL / IS) fighters have taken over a field hospital in the south-west Syrian city of Deir al-Zor, video uploaded by the Islamic State-affiliated Amaq News Agency on Wednesday appeared to show.

The video showed fighters walking around the hospital with contents strewn all over the floor.

A damaged Red Crescent ambulance is also seen parked inside the building.

Fierce clashes between Syrian army forces and Islamic State militants have continued on several fronts in and around the city of Deir al-Zor.

Islamic State has launched its fiercest assault in a year against the besieged Syrian government enclave in the city, trying to cut it off from a nearby military air base in a battle that has killed dozens.

Islamic State advanced into Deir al-Zor and the surrounding area in 2015 and managed to besiege it last year, but the Syrian army retained control of the airport and neighboring districts in the city, which lies on the Euphrates river.
