Disunity will do Iran more harm than US sanctions: Speaker
Tehran, Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that disunity and division will do Iran more harm than the US sanctions.
'Some friends play down the confrontation ahead and are engaged in trivial arguments which is detrimental to the country,' Larijani said in a meeting with members of the central council of the Islamic Coalition Party.
'The issue of unity inside the country is very important and we should not play down the danger facing us because doing so may lead to negligence inside the country,' the Majlis speaker cautioned.
'We still see some friends who are each somehow attached to the revolution and there is no doubt about their interest in the revolution play down the confrontation ahead and get involved in trivial arguments due to their lack of a common analysis of the status quo. This is detrimental to the country,' he said.
As long as the sympathizers of the Islamic Revolution do not reach a common analysis or reduce peripheral differences, it will be difficult to work, the speaker said, adding however 'Difference of opinion is natural but in order to achieve big goals such disagreements must be put aside.'
He said the government is now facing serious challenges caused by the US unilateral exist from the Iran nuclear deal known as the Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and enmity of certain countries.
