Enemies targeting Iran’s power, unity, development/ Competition between public, private sectors completely wrong/ Public enterprises have to be transferred
The president said that the target of the enemies' conspiracies over the past 40 years has been preventing a powerful, united, and developed Iran, saying, The eleventh and twelfth governments have been struggling to make the country's situation satisfactory, but at the same, it is people and the history that will judge.
Speaking on Wednesday evening in a meeting with entrepreneurs and business executives, President Hassan Rouhani said, Never before since the revolution, we have had conditions of years 97 and 98, especially with the enemy taking every effort to prevent the sale of oil and obstruct banking relations.
Dr Rouhani also referred to the security pressures, explosions and assassinations, military pressure and the imposition of war, as well as the cultural and economic plots of the enemies against Iran in the past 40 years, and said, Today, the enemy is focusing its most pressures on the economic sector, with the hope to inhibit our economic development.
He went on to mention the government's efforts to transfer electricity and water to people's houses, as well as to the industry and entrepreneurs of the country, emphasising, Water and electricity needs of the entrepreneurial sectors are provided at a cheap price, and the government has allocated a high amount of subsidy in these sectors.
Referring to the fixed rates of fuel and oil and gas for four consecutive years in the country, Dr Rouhani said, "We cannot judge the true or the falsehood of this policy at this time, and, of course, we faced some problems whenever we started to change prices. There is no such cheap fuel anywhere in the world.
The president said that one of the most important acts of the government to support the private sector and entrepreneurs is the constant supply of gas throughout the year, adding, There is no country in the world with such a large volume of gas pipelines delivered to manufacturing and residential centres, and now 95 percent of the people are enjoying gas.
"In the health sector, if you compare Iran with neighbouring and even developed countries, we will see that a great deal of work has been done in the field of Healthcare Reform Plan," he said, adding that many countries, including European and nonEuropean ones, are surprised about the implementation of the plan in Iran.
Dr Rouhani noted, In the education sector, a great job has been carried out in the country, with 14 million school students and 4 million university students.
The president said, Of course, there are a number of problems that need to be addressed. The conditions of the country are favourable.
Dr Rouhani said that competition between the public and private sectors are incorrect and wrong, adding, In equal conditions, the private sector is a priority, and the public sector must not compete with the private sector in any way.

Dr Rouhani described reforms in the banking sector as very difficult, continuing, "Unfortunately, there are a lot of unnecessary licenses issued and activities in some banks have many problems. Banks have solid assets and are doing business that are not willing to give up, while one cannot be both a banker and a businessman.
"The government's first major task in this regard was that in the past six years, we have not asked the central bank for money, and the government did not raise the monetary base," the president said.
The president described closure of unauthorized credit institutes as the second important work of the government, saying, "It was very hard work and wanted a lot of courage, and we went through a lot of problems and hardships for stopping these unauthorized credit institutes.
"Of course, in the case of banks, there needs to be a lot of reform that is taking place step by step, and these measures will be of great help to the country's economy, added Rouhani.
"We are pleased that the private sector and entrepreneurs are doing their best by using government credits," the president emphasised, thanking the entrepreneurs.
In response to questions from one of business executives in the field of energy, including oil sales by the private sector, Dr Rouhani said, "We have opened the way for this, and by selling oil on the stock market, there is no problem in selling oil and products by the private sector.
The President stated that the establishment of foreign relations with the world was another important task of the government and said, "Despite all the hostilities and conspiracies, the government continues to do its part in establishing foreign relations. We have always been looking for peace and security in the region. Security has been the highest job that the government has carried out.
Dr Rouhani added, "Given the circumstances of the region and neighbours, it is imperative that the public and private sectors consult each other and we all have to feel that this burden is on our shoulders.
The president emphasised that in spite of all the problems and threats we are in the best conditions in terms of essential reserves, saying, The government has no problem in this regard. All the essential goods needed by the country and the basic needs are provided, and the situation is so much better than last year.
