Enemies trying to create problem in Iran’s neighborly ties
Tehran, Head of Majlis (parliament) national security and foreign policy Commission Heshmat Falahat-Peisheh said on Sunday that the enemies are trying to create problems in Iran's bordering relations with neighbors.
He made the remarks in a meeting with a number of Foreign Ministry officials as well as representatives from the private sector and heads of Iran-Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce.
Falahat-Peisheh said that Afghanistan-Turkmenistan borders have vital importance for Iran, adding that reduction of annual relations between Iran and Turkmenistan as well as increasing disputes with the country is a matter of concern.
He said that part of problem is related to bilateral ties, which should be settled to stop tensions and decrease disputes.
The Majlis deputy said that the issue of the Iranian arrested in Turkmenistan, needs joint venture projects and the issue of changing border points has caused disputes and also the issue of transferring gas is still unsolved.
He added that water problems with Afghanistan and gas transfer with Turkmenistan have affected Iran's ties with these two neighbors.
Around 2.5 billion dollars are the volume of Iran's export to Afghanistan, while this country is exporting around 15 million dollars to Iran, so these figures have destabilized relations and has caused fluctuations in decisions of Afghan side.
He said Iran should create safer atmosphere for Iranian businessmen in relations with Afghanistan.
In the issue of elimination of obstacles in border cooperation with Afghanistan and Turkmenistan some of Iranian provincial officials had ignorance, while figures are so high and has the value of strategic issues.
