EU to cooperate with Iran on peace in Afghanistan

Tehran, EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan Roland Kobia and Iranian Foreign Ministry's officials discussed Afghanistan's developments, and stressed the need for reinforcing peace in that country.

Kobia who is currently in Tehran to hold political consultations explored Afghan developments in detail with First Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi and Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi.

During the meetings, the Iranian officials stressed the need for heeding crucial role of Afghan Constitution in all talks, calling for maintaining Afghans' achievements over the past 18 years.

Kobia highlighted similarities between the EU and Iran's stances and voiced EU's readiness for cooperation with Iran to promote peace in the country.
