EU to establish independent financial system for Iran: EU official
Tehran, A senior member of the European Parliament on Saturday said that the EU plans to make an independent financial system for financial transactions with Iran.
'We are doing our best to create an independent financial system for relations and banking cooperation of Europe with Iran,' Janusz Lewandowski, chairman of the EP group for relations with Iran said.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Kazem Jalali, head of Iran's parliamentary friendship group with European Parliament.
The official said that the European companies are keen to develop cooperation with Iran.
During the meeting, the Iranian MP for his part called for the EU practical steps to implement the nuclear deal reached between Iran and world powers in 2015.
Europe should take practical steps and take firm actions and do not suffice with mere mottos, he noted.
The official condemned the US unilateralism and called for ending this approach in the globe.
US President Donald Trump mounted pressure on Iran and on May 8 announced that Washington would withdraw from Iran's nuclear deal and re-impose nuclear-related sanctions on the country.
This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union, have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of the world peace and security.
