Eutelsat takes Iranian Press TV off air

Tehran, IRNA – The France-based satellite operator Eutelsat has taken Iran’s English-language Press TV off air from its broadcasting list.

The action by the French satellite is in contradiction with international regulations and freedom of the press.

A few weeks after the European Union imposed sanctions on Iran’s English-language news network, Eutelsat took Press TV off the air.

The European Union imposed sanctions on a number of Iranian entities and individuals, including Press TV, over so-called rights violations after the recent unrest in the Islamic nation.

The Eutelsat provides coverage over the entire European continent, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas, and is the world’s third-largest satellite operator in terms of revenues.
