Exports from Sistan, Baluchestan to Pakistan grow by

Zahedan, Export of goods in the 11 months of the current Iranian year (to start on March 21) from Sistan and Baluchestan to Pakistan valued at $530.581 million compared to the same period of last year, showing the growth of 153% in value.

Chairman of the Sistan and Baluchestan Industry, Mining and Trade Organization Nader Mirshekar said in an interview with IRNA on Saturday, Bordering with Pakistan and Afghanistan and the unique capacities of Sistan and Baluchestan in the field of commodity exchanges, are among the most important issues in the development of this province.

‘The history of economic relations along with common culture and religion requires exchanges with these two friends and neighbors to increase exponentially, the Iranian official said.

Chief of the Sistan and Baluchestan Industry, Mining and Trade Organization said the total exports from the province’s customs and markets to Pakistan over past 11 months amounted to $530 million, and went on to say, The export volume in the 11 months of this Iranian year from the customs of this province to Pakistan had a value of 137.345 dollars, and the border markets were worth 393 million, 235, 634 dollars.

He mentioned some of the most important export items to Pakistan as construction materials (cement), dates, cucurbits, apple and ceramic products.

According to IRNA, Sistan and Baluchistan has created special conditions for regional and trans-regional exchanges for Iran and countries in the region, such as Pakistan and Afghanistan, due to its geographical location.

Sistan and Baluchestan located in the southeast of Iran, about 1,600 kilometers, equivalent to one-sixth of the total borders of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has borders with the countries of Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Sea of Oman.

The length of the province’s boundaries with Pakistan is about 300 km, equivalent to one-third of the entire Iran’s border with Afghanistan, and length of joined border of the province with Pakistan is 921 km, which accounted for the total border between Iran and Pakistan.
