First Direct Dammam-Najaf Flynas Flight Launched

Dammam, Yesterday was the inaugural direct flight from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam to Najaf in Iraq.

Flight number XY821 was operated by the national carrier Flynas; attending the launch was Iraqi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Safia Taleb Al Souhail, several high-ranking officials from the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council, and Flynas and civil aviation sector representatives.

These three direct weekly flights are the result of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council endeavor.

The historical ties between the two countries, supported by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, have led to growing bilateral relations that are expected to expand further to achieve mutual interests and promote growth and stability in the region.

The inaugural flight was met with a ceremony at Najaf International Airport, attended by Saudi Ambassador to Iraq Abdulaziz Al-Sha
mmari and Governor of Najaf Eng. Yusuf Kinawi.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation had said flights from Dammam to Najaf add a new air route between the two countries; there are already flights to Baghdad and Erbil.

This move aligns with the Kingdom’s national aviation strategy, which aims to increase passenger capacity to more than 330 million annually, and reach over 250 destinations worldwide.
