First IranGermany joint committee on water coop set up
Tehran, Iran and Germany set up on Tuesday their firstever joint committee on strategic water cooperation in a bid to develop the country’s water management and infrastructure.
‘One of the active committees in this sector is cooperation with Germany about water issues,’ said Farhad Yazdan Doust, deputy energy minister for international affairs said on Tuesday, adding that Iran has had longstanding cooperation with Europe, especially Germany, on water and electricity projects.
He expressed hope that bilateral water cooperation between Tehran and Berlin would increase, saying the two are studying new projects in this regard.
The Iranian ministry of energy official said the two are seeking to rally the European Union’s support behind the existing and upcoming projects.
