FIVB apologizes to Iran for using fake term

Tehran, International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) in reaction to a protest lodged by Iran's Volleyball Federation apologized for using an incorrect term for 'Persian Gulf'.

FIVB website published names of host countries for 2019 events Wednesday morning according to which FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship will be held in Tunisia and Bahrain will host the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship.

The FIVB in its news report used a faked name for 'Persian Gulf' to introduce Bahrain, which met with strong protest of Iran's Volleyball Federation.

Following the protest and contacts with Iran, FIVB officials apologized for its mistake and corrected the term.
