FM Zarif highlights IRGC sacrifices against ISIS

Tehran, Iranian foreign Minister in a message referred to president Trump's confession as regard Iran fight against ISIS terrorists raising the question that who from Iran did the fight.

'When @realdonaldtrump insisted that 'Iran is killing ISIS', exactly who did he think was doing the fighting & making the sacrifice?,' Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted on Wednesday night.

He added 'ISIS would've held two Arab capitals & fielded a Terrorist Army on Europe's doorstep had #IRGC not fought alongside brave peoples of Iraq & Syria'.

In an earlier separate message Zarif referred to his Wednesday meeting with senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) , saying 'Honored to meet top cmdrs of #IRGC. Our armed forces sacrificed to defend our nation, region & the world against Saddam & the ISIS. We'll never forget their sacrificenor will we allow outlaw bullies to destroy their legacy by fueling insecurity & instability. Nor should the world.'

The meeting, which comes two days after the United States blacklisted the IRGC as a terrorist group, was aimed to signal support for the revolutionary forces.

US President Donald Trump, in an unwise move on Monday, labeled IRGC which is a part of the country's official armed forces as a terrorist entity. 'The IRGC is the Iranian government's primary means of directing and implementing its global terrorist campaign, Trump said.

We will continue to increase financial pressure and raise the costs on the Iranian regime for its support of terrorist activity until it abandons its malign and outlaw behavior, Trump added.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was one of the first Iranian officials who reacted to the US move, calling on Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) to add American forces in West Asia, known as the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), to its terrorist groups' list.

In a letter to President Hassan Rouhani, he also called for a retaliatory move by labeling the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) as a terrorist organization and the US government as a terrorist sponsor.

Zarif described the move as 'another misguided electioneve gift to Netanyahu.
