FM Zarif sees Bulgaria as Iran’s gateway to Europe
Tehran, Bulgaria's role as a friend and the rotating head of the EU is very important for Iran and Bulgaria is the gateway to Europe, said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday in a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
Foreign Minister Zarif said in the meeting that Iran and Bulgaria can increase their commercial relations up to one billion dollars.
Zarif named some good field of cooperation, namely, oil and natural gas, transit, technical and engineering services.
He also urged the transportation and banking problems be solved. Zarif also said that the banking processes between the two counters need a safe channel.
The Iranian foreign minister suggested that a joint fund to be founded to support the private sectors of both countries, and the tourist exchanges between the two countries to be expanded.
Borissov welcomed Zarif and said that his visit to Tehran in mid-July 2016 was a successful one.
He called for more cooperation in construction, car manufacturing, medicine, subway, and making highways, tunnels, bridges, and rails, etc.
