Foreign ministry pursues arrest of Iranian national in Australia
Tehran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Saturday that Tehran has instructed Iran's embassy in Canberra to expedite latest status of the Iranian university students who has been arrested in the country.
Referring to the latest news on the arrest of Iranian university student in University of Queensland charged with shipment of US made military equipment to Iran, he said we have not received any news from Australian officials or any official channels the news which has been disseminated by cyberspace.
Tehran has instructed Iran's embassy in Canberra to swiftly pursue the case through Australian officials and the result of such findings will be publicized, Qasemi said.
Iran's foreign ministry is duty-bound to protect rights of Iranian nationals elsewhere in the world and is to spare no efforts to verify authenticity of such news and relative measures, he said.
'We have experienced such irritating, illegitimate, selective, politically motivated, and biased measures by the US administration,' he said.
We will also follow up similar unfounded accusations leveled against Iranian nationals, he said.
