Former, new, future PMs of Pakistan meet to discuss new cabinet
Islamabad, Aug 2, The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and future Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met today to finalize the list of new cabinet members.
The new cabinet, which is expected to take oath on Wednesday (today) in the President House Islamabad, will comprise members who have served in Nawaz Sharif's cabinet. Abbasi's cabinet, however, is expected to be smaller than that of his predecessor.
It is unclear whether former interior minister, Chaudhry Nisar, who discussed his grievances with the party in a much anticipated press conference last week will be a part of the new cabinet.
Abbasi was sworn in as prime minister of Pakistan on Tuesday after winning the elections the same day by gaining 221 votes in the National Assembly.
Abbasi himself served as petroleum minister in Nawaz's previous cabinet which stepped down after he was removed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Abbasi is expected to serve until Nawaz's brother, Shahbaz Sharif, becomes eligible to take over the position of Prime Minister probably within two months.
