Georgian MP confers with Iranian counterpart
Tehran, Head of Georgian parliament friendship group with Iran Shalva Kiknavelidze said here on Saturday that using economic capabilities in countries of the region needs establishment of peace and security.
Kiknavelidze, who is in Tehran, made the remarks in meeting with Head of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
He underlined development of cooperation in the fields of tourism and transport, preparing situation for presence of private sector and execution of joint venture projects between Tehran and Tbilisi.
The Georgian parliament deputy pointed to historical relations between the two countries, and said that the two nations have always had friendly ties upon reciprocal respect.
Kiknavelidze said formation of parliamentary friendship group between the two states indicated interests of the senior political and parliamentary officials to expand and develop relations with Iran.
Boroujerdi expressed pleasure for growing trend of communications between the two countries and said that there exist plenty of capacities in different fields of politics, economy and culture, especially parliamentary relations which could be used to promote bilateral friendly ties.
He added that Majlis supports and welcomes every move in direction to consolidate and strengthen mutual cooperation.
Boroujerdi pointed to Iran's principle policy in fight against terrorism, and said that developments need establishment of sustainable security.
He added that warmongering policies and clear supports of the US for terrorist groups and violation of international commitments approved by the UN, including Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), has caused instability and continuation of crises in the region.
Expressing sorrow for human catastrophe in Yemen, Boroujerdi said massacre of innocent children, women and civilians in Yemen is result of direct support of the US and Saudi Arabia and interferences in domestic affairs of other states.
The senior Iranian lawmaker also underlined continuation of holding economic commission meeting between Iran and Georgia, and execution of signed mutual agreements.
