Ghafuri Ashtiani elected member of UNESCO’s Academic Council for Geosciences

Tehran, Mohsen Ghafouri Ashtiani, professor, founder and former chairman of the International Research Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering, was elected as member of the Scientific Council of the UNESCO International Geosciences Program.

UNESCO's International Geosciences Program and the International Union of Geosciences have always supported the implementation of a number of projects with specific topics, and the Scientific Council is responsible for providing technical advice and preparing reports on these projects.

The council consists of 50 to 60 experts elected for the 4-year period by the UNESCO International Geosciences Program.
