Half a ton of opium seized in S Iran

Bushehr, About 560 kilograms of opium was found in Kangan County, Bushehr Province, southern Iran, said the province’s marine commander.

‘The haul was being unloaded from a boat when seized; one person was arrested during the operation,’ said Colonel Vailiollah Rezaee-nejad.

He also added that in the first three months of the current Iran year (started March 21) about two tons of narcotics has been seized.

Iran as the country neighboring Afghanistan and Pakistan is a transit road for drug-traffickers. Many Iranian soldiers are killed every year in the fight against the ominous phenomenon.
