Heavy water production goes on as before
Tehran, Spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Behrouz Kamalvandi says heavy water production in Iran has not stopped and goes on as before.
Kamalvandi said in a ceremony to unveil new quantum safe technologies on Wednesday that after the US leaving the JCPOA, major changes were observed in policies of the country.
'While former government of the US bought about 30 tons of heavy water from us, the new government tries to prevent our heavy water sale at whatever cost and created many barriers,' he said.
Kamalvandi said, 'Of course, before leaving the JCPOA, the US government used to do such things which was not so much visible.'
He added, 'For the time being, we have our own ties and export heavy water to many countries; of course, wide-scale exports has not been in operation, while we establish ties with the small- and medium-sized companies and that suffices regarding the volume of our production. Moreover, we are looking for heavy water markets and are active in production of heavy water side-products as well. Some of the products are used in pharmaceutical products and good works have been made in this regard and related information will soon be unveiled.'
