Herat blast casualties hit 16
Herat, Four people were killed and 12 others injured in a blast from explosives placed in a vehicle in Afghanistan's Herat province on Thursday.
Spokesman for the Harat governor general told local reporters the explosion took place around six o'clock in the first district of Herat.
Spokesman of Herat Central Hospital also said that the 12 injured including women and children have been transported to the hospital and are receiving treatment.
Four wounded are in critical conditions, as the number of dead is likely to rise, he said.
This is while Afghan news agency Ava has reported the blast occurred in the eighth district of Herat near a military court.
Based on the report, the blast happened near the house of Head of Herat Council Kamran Alizei and suicide attacker hit the convoy escorting him.
Herat province is one of the main Afghan provinces in terms of economy and it enjoys a relative better security compared to the other provinces given its vicinity to Iran.
