HIV-infected count hits 37,650
Tehran, Based on the statistics, the number of people infected with HIV in the country reached 37,650 up to the end of the Iranian calendar year 1396 (March 21, 2017-March 20, 2018).
According to the Infectious Disease Management Center of the Health Ministry, 51% of the HIV cases are related to 21-35 years range.
Some 13,293 ones were killed and 15,278 others entered advanced phases.
32% were among women and 68% were related to men.
From among all cases 33% were related to addiction, 47% to sexual relations, 2% from mother to baby and 18% of them were unknown.
The human immunodeficiency virus is a lentivirus that causes HIV infection and over time acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
