Imam Khomeini, great leader of all times: Iran envoy
Islamabad, Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan said that late Founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini was a great leader who had always stressed the need for unity among Muslim Ummah.
Mehdi Honardoost made the remarks at a conference in Islamabad to commemorate the 29th death anniversary of Imam Khomeini.
A large number of religious figures, Iranian diplomats, scholars, analysts, students and many lovers of the late Imam's ideas attended the conference jointly organized by the Cultural Center of Iran embassy and Jamia Al Sadiq.
Mehdi Honardoost expressing his views said the Islamic Revolution of Iran is different from the other revolutions in the world's history because it has roots in the principles of Islam.
The envoy said Imam Khomeini gave the lesson of bravery and far sightedness through the revolution.
From the very first day of the victory of Islamic Revolution we closed the embassy of Zionist Regime in Tehran and handed over its control to the Palestinian authority, which was a step against the tyrants of Zionist Regime, he said.
The ambassador added that Iran has always defended the oppressed people of Palestine against the oppressors.
Mehdi Honardoost expressing his views said that Imam Khomeini announced last Friday of Ramadan as Al-Quds day urging all Muslims to come together show the power of Islam.
Unfortunately we are now days witnessing the worst days in the history of Islamic world because of the widening gap among Muslim nations, he regretted.
The diplomat added that the US has chosen this time to accept Al-Quds as capital of the Zionist Regime because the Muslims are divided and have left the path of unity.
He said unfortunately some Islamic countries are playing in the hands of Americans and supporting their policies.
If you look at the globe of Islam you can see that all disasters are in the Islamic world, it is a matter of shame that our common enemies are laughing at us because we are engaged with each other under takfiri groups and terrorist ideas, he pointed out.
Mehdi Honardoost said that being Muslim it is our duty to protect the rights of oppressed Muslims especially the people of Palestine. We should stand up against the tyranny of Zionist Regime, he said.
The ambassador said that Islamic Republic of Iran fully supports the poor people of Palestine and Inshallah one day Al-Quds will be liberated and we would be able to offer prayer at Al-Quds al sharif.
Acting Iranian Cultural Counselor, Mohammad Reza Kaka expressing his views said that today there is dire need to pursue the path shown by late Imam Khomeini as Muslims in the world today are facing lots of challenges.
He said Imam Khomeini used to think that the rule of Zionists over a strong Muslim state was a matter of shame for the Islamic world.
Mohammad Reza Kaka said that declaring last Friday of Ramadan as Al-Quds day is clear example of the far sightedness Imam Khomeini had.
He noted that enemies of Islamic Revolution are trying their best to weaken Iran but due to the teachings and guidance of Imam Khomeini the Iranian nation is united and progressing in all fields.
Member of Iranian Parliament Ahad Azadi Khaw on the occasion said Imam Khomeini's biggest contribution was the starting of Islamic Awakening and establishing an Islamic government in Iran.
He said the issue of Palestine was of the prime importance for Imam Khomeini during his struggle.
He said that Al-Quds day belongs to oppressed people around the world and on the day Muslim nations should join hands to show their solidarity to the enemies of Islam.
The lawmaker said that the Islamic Revolution has now entered into the fifth decade despite all conspiracies and still no one can deter the resolve of Iranian nation towards the Islamic Revolution.
He said Imam Khomeini during his struggle had always exposed the enemies of Islam especially the Zionist Regime.
The politician said Imam Khomeini had told the anti-Islam governments of the world that it is not possible to defeat Islam.
