Indian expert: Transfer of US embassy contributes to extremism in region

New Delhi- Indian university professor and senior researcher Professor Harsh Panth said Donald Trump's decision to move the US embassy to alQuds (Jerusalem) would contribute to extremism in the region.

Talking to IRNA in an exclusive interview on Friday, the professor who is a lecturer in the King College of London and also a Distinguished Fellow at Observer Research Foundation, New Delhi, noted that US President Trump has acted on his election promise.

He said it also indicates that the lobby of the Zionist regime has been successful and gained much support from the US government.

He said the Zionist regime has also infiltrated other countries in the Middle East and the rest of the world.

This Indian expert noted that this move of the US Administration will strengthen radical and extremist groups in the region as well as the world and will allow them to act with more freedom.

He believes the strengthening of radical groups will threaten the stability of the region and the world. On the other hand, he noted, Palestinians will firmly come to the conclusion that US power for peace could no longer be trusted so the American leadership will be questioned.

Pointing out that some Arab countries support US actions in the Middle East, Panth said: Unfortunately, the Arab countries, with their support, allow the US to enforce such policies.

He stressed that Arab countries must think about the consequences of their actions, which can lead to further instability in the Middle East and spread more extremist thoughts.

The Indian scholar further noted that the Muslim world must put more pressure on the United States and the Zionist regime.

Ignoring the United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 478 dated 1980, Trump on Wednesday said in a press conference that the fact that Tel Aviv was currently used as the Zionist regime capital was 'Illegal' and said, 'Time is ripe to recognize Quds as Israel capital.'

He also ordered the US foreign ministry to make necessary preparations to relocate the US embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds.
