Instagram’s measure shows fragility of Western freedom: Spox
Tehran, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman condemned the Instagram social network in blocking accounts of some of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) commanders.
'This action showed that to what extent the West's views about freedom of speech is fragile in tolerating the opposition's voice,' Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said on Wednesday.
While condemning the actions of the Instagram social network in blocking the accounts of the some of the commanders of IRGC and rejecting the absurd pretexts and claims of the United States in naming the IRGC as terrorist organization, Mousavi said, 'The move suggests that the freedom of expression by the West and the claimants of human rights is fragile to tolerate the opposition's voices and those who do not like their policies for whatever reason.'
He criticized the West for not tolerating the opposition's voice, and said, 'We should not take this action very seriously, but left a black record for the claimants of freedom of expression.'
The Instagram social network has blocked a number of accounts of the IRGC commanders n recent days.
