Iran, 5+1 FMs may meet in New York: nuclear official
Tehran, Aug 27, Iran nuclear chief said here on Sunday that Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif would possibly take necessary measures to hold a meeting of foreign ministers of Iran and the 5+1 member states on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly Annual Meeting in New York in September.
The head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi made the remarks on the sidelines of Iran Conference on Quantum Technologies in Tehran.
Touching upon te US lack of commitment to nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Salehi said, 'Zaif has sent two letters to Yukiya Amano, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini to counter Washington's bullying measures.'
He added that Zarif's measures indicate the foreign ministry's efforts for tackling US hostile measures.
'I'm confident that Iran's Foreign Ministry would do its best to pursue implementation of JCPOA and avoid measures that hinder the successful realization of the nuclear deal,' Salehi added.
