Iran against militarization of space
Tehran, Iran severely opposes militarization of space, said Iran's ambassador and permanent representative in international organizations in Vienna on Saturday.
Iran also opposes implementing any kind of limitation for devising, manufacturing, and launching small satellites, Kazem Gharibabadi said in a meeting with Director of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) Simonetta Di Pippo.
Describing space as 'Joint Heritage of Humanity', Gharibabadi said the space should only be used for exploration and peaceful use.
He also said that Iran opposes any kind of arms race, including that of convectional or mass killing weapons, in the space.
Thanking Di Pippo for her office's cooperation in tackling the problem of particle pollutants in south of Iran, he suggested that the second joint workshop be held in Tehran.
