Iran, Azerbaijan agree on banking cooperation
Tehran, Economy ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan agreed Monday on enhancement of mutual monetary, banking and financial cooperation as well as joint efforts to give a boost to economic cooperation, particularly in completion of SouthNorth Corridor.
Expansion of relations with neighboring countries, Azerbaijan in particular, is among strategic policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iranian Economy Minister Farhad Dejpasand said during a meeting in Tehran with his Azeri counterpart Shahin Mustafayev.
He said that Azerbaijan has a special place in Iran's foreign policy.
The Azeri minister, for his part, voiced his country's readiness to help complete the remaining parts of the RashtAstara railway project.
Mustafayev welcomed the 74% growth in trade exchanges between Iran and Azerbaijan which he said amounted to $450 million last year.
